Image: Grading

To add the Image: Grading group to a panel while using IPP2 controls, right-click in a panel and select Image: Grading.

If a 3D LUT file is loaded, select the Enable check box to disable the currently loaded 3D LUT.

NOTE: For more information on how to load a 3D LUT, go to Creative 3D LUT Manager.

Use the 3D LUT Manager to add and manage 3D LUTs.

Add a 3D LUT

To add a 3D LUT, follow the instructions below:

  1. Go to Image: Grading > Creative 3D LUT Manager.
  2. Click the Edit drop-down and select one of the following:
    • Import: You can navigate to any folder.
    • Browse Library: Opens the default LUTs folder for REDCINE-X PRO. On a Mac, this folder is located here: /Users/Name/Library/Application Support/red/RedCineX/Luts. On a Windows-based computer, this folder is located here: Users\Name\AppData\Local\red\RedCineX\Luts.
  3. Navigate to the desired 3D LUT file.
  4. Click Open.
Delete A 3D LUT
  1. Go to Image: Grading > Creative 3D LUT Manager.
  2. Select a LUT.
  3. Click the Edit drop-down menu and select Remove.
Preview A 3D LUT
  1. Go to Image: Grading > Creative 3D LUT Manager.
  2. Select a LUT.
  3. Click Preview.

NOTE: To cycle through the LUT previews, select Alt+Preview. The "Preview" button changes to "Previewing". Then, click any LUT to preview it. To turn off Previewing mode, click Edit, Previewing, or Apply.

Apply A 3D LUT
  1. Go to Image: Grading > Creative 3D LUT Manager.
  2. Select a LUT.
  3. Click Apply.

Load CDL

To load a CDL file, follow the instructions below:

  1. Click Load.
  2. Find and select the desired file.
  3. Click OK.
Export CDL

To export a CDL file, follow the instructions below:

  1. Click Export.
  2. Type a name for the file and select a destination.
  3. Click Save.
Color Decision

The Color Decision drop-down populates once you load a CDL. If multiple CDLs are in one file, the drop-down can be used to select the desired CDL.

NOTE: Multiple CDL files are unable to be loaded at once.

Adjust CDL Channels

To adjust the CDL settings, perform one of the following:

  • Click and drag the white point inside of the color wheel to the desired location.
  • Click and drag the Global slider.
  • Click and drag the Red, Green, and Blue sliders.
  • Enter a new value in the Red, Green, and Blue fields.
Power

This group allows you to adjust the Power image characteristics:

Curves & Contrast enables you to adjust the contrast, highlights, lights, midtones, darks, and shadows to improve the look of your R3D footage. This group allows you to adjust the following image characteristics:

Adjust the Tonal Curve

To adjust the tonal curve, choose one of the following methods:

  • Tonal Curve: Click and drag the curve.
  • Curve Settings: Expand Curve Settings to click and drag the sliders or enter a value.

Tonal Curve Presets

To create and use your own tonal curve preset, follow the instructions below:

  1. Go to the Image: Curve tab.
  2. Select a preset or adjust the tonal curve.
  3. Click and hold the preset number for three (3) seconds to save tonal curve settings to the preset.
