RED recommends adjusting the following items to improve GPU (graphics processing unit) performance. After configuring the settings, you must restart REDCINE-X PRO for the settings to take effect. Go to Preferences > System to set the following items:
- System Cached Frames Memory Limit: This setting affects image pipeline processing with OpenCL, software, and CUDA cards with less than 4GB. The minimum is 1.00GB, and the maximum depends on the memory available in your machine.
- Number of Simultaneous Frames to Process: Set to the desired number of frames to simultaneous process. The range is 1 to 32. Setting this to a value greater than the number of logical processors can impact system usability.
- Additional GPU memory to reserve for other applications: This slider determines how the GPU memory is split between these sets of actions:
- Actions required to generate and display an R3D file in REDCINE-X PRO, including: GPU decode; GPU image pipeline; and CUDA-based acceleration.
- Actions in applications outside of REDCINE-X PRO, and any processing using the Image: Post: Effects tools in REDCINE-X PRO. These are considered to be the "other applications".
- GPU Mode Selection: Select a GPU. After selecting an option, the menu shows what devices are available. To enable a device, select the check box next to it.
- Disable GPU: REDCINE-X PRO will not use any installed GPU.
- CUDA: Use one or more CUDA-enabled GPUs.
- OpenCL: Use one or more OpenCL-enabled GPUs.
