Force Upgrade

When the camera is experiencing malfunctions that prevent you from upgrading the firmware, you can perform a Force upgrade. You must download the firmware zip file from RED Downloads and extract the zipped files before performing the Force upgrade.

To perform a Force upgrade:

1. Format the CFast media using a media reader and a computer to access a disk formatting utility capable of formatting the media to FAT32.

2. Create a new folder on the card and name it force_upgrade.

3. Copy the upgrade.bin file from the firmware file and copy it to the force_upgrade folder.

4. Make sure the camera is turned OFF and the AC power adaptor is connected.

5. Make sure that the camera is free of any peripheral connections.

6. Insert the CFast media in the camera media bay.

7. Turn the camera power ON. The camera detects the firmware and performs the Force upgrade automatically.
