Menu Bar

The menu bar provides access to many of the functions and settings of REDCINE-X PRO.

File Menu

  • New Project: Creates a new project. For more information, go to Create a Project.
  • Open Clip: Opens a clip. The clip loads in the Project bin.
  • Open Folder: Opens an R3D file.
  • Open Project: Opens an .rcx file. For more information, go to Create a Project.
  • Open Recent Project: Opens a recently-accessed .rcx file. For more information, go to Create a Project.
  • Save Project: Saves an open project under its current file name.
  • Save Project As: Saves an open project.
  • Restore Project: Restores an older version of an auto-saved project. For more information, go to Restore Auto-Saved Projects.
  • Close Project: Closes an open project. If the project has changed since the last time it was saved, REDCINE-X PRO will prompt you to save the project.
  • Save Current Look for RED ONE: Saves the current Look (RMD file) so that it's compatible with RED ONE footage. The look must have these settings:
    • Color Space: REDcolor
    • Gamma Space: REDgamma
  • Save Current Look for Epic/Scarlet: Saves the current Look (RMD file) so that it's compatible with EPIC/SCARLET footage.
  • IPP2 LUT Creator: Creates an IPP2 LUT. For more information, go to IPP2 LUT Creator.
  • Import: Imports an XML or EDL format. For more information, go to Import XML and EDL Files.
  • Export (shallow): Exports the project to an XML or EDL format. For more information, go to Export Shallow Files.
  • Export: Exports the project. For more information, go to Export Clips.
  • Run Script: Runs a script.

Edit Menu

  • Undo: Undo the most recent action.
  • Redo: Redo the recent action that was undone.
  • Copy Look: Copies a look from one of the memory slots. For more information on Look Memories, go to Look Memories.
  • Paste Look: Pastes a copied look into one of the memory slots. For more information on Look Memories, go to Look Memories.

View Menu

  • Fullscreen Video: Opens the clip that is currently in the Viewer in full screen mode. Press Esc (click video first), Command+F (Mac only), or Ctrl+F (Windows-based systems only) to exit full screen video.
  • Toggle Full Screen Mode: Enables/disables full screen mode.
  • Video on Second Monitor: Opens the Viewer in full screen mode on a secondary monitor. This option is disabled if a secondary monitor is not attached. To set the secondary monitor, go to General.
  • Toggle Side Panels: Shows/hides the side panels.
  • Toggle All Panels: Shows/hides all panels.
  • Fit Timeline to Window: Fits all items in the Timeline to the current width of the Timeline panel.

Project Menu

  • New Bin: Adds a new bin to the Project panel. For more information, go to Create a Bin.
  • New Sequence: Adds a new sequence. For more information, go to Create a Sequence.

Timeline Menu

Use the Timeline menu to view and manage items in the Timeline

  • Delete Slugs: Deletes any placeholders (also known as slugs). All items in the Timeline will retain their position in the Timeline.
  • Ripple Delete Slugs: Deletes any placeholders (also known as slugs). All items in the Timeline will move forward to compensate for the space that has been removed.
  • Add Video Track: Adds a video track to the Timeline.
  • Add Audio Track: Adds an audio track to the Timeline.
  • Zoom In: Zooms in on the Timeline. When you zoom in, the Timeline shows a shorter period of time, which allows you to have more accurate control when placing objects in the Timeline.
  • Zoom Out: Zooms out from the Timeline.
  • Snapping: Enables/disables snapping mode.
  • Select how to edit or view the Timeline. Only one option can be selected at a time:
    • Select: When Select is enabled, you can click and drag a clip. Moving the clip does not affect any other clips in the Timeline.
    • Zoom: Enables you to zoom in on and zoom out of the timeline. When you zoom in, the Timeline shows a shorter period of time, which allows you to have more accurate control when placing objects in the Timeline.
    • Roll: Enables roll editing in the Timeline. When roll editing is enabled, shortening a clip makes the clip behind it longer by the same amount. The total length of the timeline remains the same.
    • Ripple: Enables ripple editing in the Timeline. When ripple editing is enabled, moving a clip forward moves all items behind it forward by the same amount. Likewise, moving a clip backward moves all items in front of it backward by the same amount.

Workspace Menu

Select a workspace. For more information, go to Workspace Bar.

Window Menu

  • Reset panels in current mode: Resets all panels in the current Workspace.
  • Reset panels in all modes across all workspaces: Resets all panels in all Workspaces.
  • Scopes (cycle): Cycles through the different histogram/scopes options.
  • Status: Shows the Status Panel.
  • Viewer: Shows/hides the Viewer.
  • Console: Shows/hides the Console.

Help Menu

  • Quick Help: Opens list of default keyboard shortcuts. For more information, go to Default Keyboard Shortcuts.
  • REDCINE-X Manual: Opesn the REDCINE-X PRO Operation Guide (PDF).
  • Show Log File: Opens the current log file (.log) and the default folder where log files are saved. On a Mac, this folder is located here: /Users/Name/Library/Application Support/red/RedCineX/Logs. On a Windows-based computer, this folder is located here: Users\Name\AppData\Local\red\RedCineX\Logs.
  • Save Report: Creates and saves a zipped folder that contains the current log files and preferences file.
  • Save System Information: Creates and saves a zipped .txt file that contains your system's hardware and software information.
  • Build Number: The build (version) number of REDCINE-X PRO.
