Set Up RED TETHER

NOTE: RED TETHER can only connect to one (1) camera at a time.

  1. For WEAPON 6K, SCARLET-W 5K, or RED RAVEN 4.5K: Install a DSMC2 Jetpack-SDI Expander or DSMC2 REDVOLT Expander.
  2. Turn on the camera.
  3. Turn off WiFi and disconnect all other network connections.
  4. Ensure that DHCP is selected in your Ethernet settings.
    • Mac: Go to System Preferences > Network and select Using DHCP from the Configure IPv4 drop-down menu.
    • Windows: Go to Start > Control bar > Network and Internet. Right-click the network connection that is connected to your camera and select Properties. Select DHCP from the pane.
  5. Connect the camera to your computer using a RED GIG-E-to-CAT5E Ethernet Cable (P/N 790-0159, P/N 790-0557).

WARNING: Connecting through a switch or router may cause dropped packets on busy networks and compromise the recording.

  6. Open REDCINE-X PRO or the RED TETHER application.
  7. Double-click the camera ID to connect.

NOTE: RED TETHER may take up to one (1) minute to recognize your camera.

NOTE: If the camera browser locates two (2) or more cameras with the same name, it will append the camera's IP to the camera names in the Camera list.

NOTE: While REDCINE-X PRO is attempting to connect to a camera a tilde will appear in front of the camera name. Once the camera is connected the tilde will become an asterisk.

  8. If your camera does not display, click Refresh.

NOTE: If your camera still does not display, go to RED TETHER Does Not Recognize Camera.

  9. Click Select... to set a location to save live recorded R3D files. For more information, go to RED TETHER Application User Interface.

NOTE: RED TETHER supports all Recording modes except Speed Ramp mode. For more information, see the camera operation guides.

  10. Enter the desired settings you want in RED TETHER or on your camera.

NOTE: RED TETHER does not support Motion + Stills mode.

  11. Click Preview in RED TETHER.

A live stream from the camera appears in the Viewer.

  12. Click Record or press the Record button on your camera to begin live recording.
